Kevin McAllister, President & Baykeeper

Kevin brings extensive professional training as a coastal biologist with more than 20 years experience in environmental resources management and protection. Attending not only to the day-to-day business of managing the organization, he also serves as the environmental steward, community educator and watchdog for the bays, working to find solutions to environmental problems, drawing attention to issues, advocating for the bays and their shores, stopping polluters and monitoring both water quality and land use. He holds undergraduate degrees in Natural Resources Conservation and Marine biology, and a Master of Science degree in Coastal Zone Management.

Matthew Atkinson, General Counsel

Formerly an attorney for Riverkeeper and an adjunct professor at Pace University, School of Law, where he was a Supervising Attorney at the Pace Environmental Litigation Clinic, Matthew Atkinson offers extensive expertise in environmental law, as well as not-for profit law and corporate governance. As General Counsel for Peconic Baykeeper, he coordinates with outside counsel, develops and implements legal and policy strategies to effect corporate purposes, advocates Peconic Baykeeper’s policies before governmental entities, and advises the Executive Director and the Board of Directors concerning all aspects of corporate governance, not-for-profit law and compliance with federal and state laws governing public charities.
