Incident Reporting

Bay area residents and water sport enthusiasts are often the first witnesses of sewage spills, wetland filling, algal blooms, mass killings of fish, crustacea and insects, activities like insecticide spraying or dredging, the unauthorized fencing of public shorelines, or other actions that harm the integrity of our estuary system.

If you witness any incident of pollution, you can report it to the Baykeeper for further investigation. Doing so may provide an evidentiary connection between the incident and fish/crab kills and habitat destruction, or alert the Baykeeper and other authorities to a toxic situation. At a minimum, you are taking ownership of protecting our natural resources - a collective responsibility we share to protect our bays.

To report a pollution incident, please call or e-mail the Baykeeper office. Please include the date, location and a description, as well as your name and contact information. Our telephone number is 631 727-7346 or you can e-mail us at info@peconicbaykeeper.org.
