Pollution Patrol Program

Using our 18′ vessel, Baykeeper Pete Topping regularly patrols our waterways to identify water quality issues and respond to citizen complaints including pollution, illegal development, fish kills, and more. This helps address deficits in state and municipal enforcement programs. Peconic Baykeeper maintains a wide database of enforcement contacts to ensure that the appropriate agencies are contacted and that violations are issued when appropriate. Regular patrols of the Peconic and South Shore Estuaries also provide us with important insights into local issues so that we can better engage with environmental stakeholders as ambassadors of waterway protection. We hope to see you out on the water!

To report pollution or an issue of concern in your favorite waterway, please contact us! Photos documenting the event/concern are extremely helpful if available.
